November 27, 2009

Brian and I found out we were pregnant at my 30th birthday party-best birthday surprise ever. I then took two more test over the following week and all read "pregnant". The pregnancy was cofirmed a week later at the docotor's office. We had our first ultrasound on Brian's birthday (November 23rd) and we were able to see the little monster moving around and were able to hear the heartbeat - the most amazing sound ever. The docotor believes we are around 9 weeks right now (even though I think I am at 10 weeks). Our second ultrasound is December 21st and I should be 13 weeks pregnant- at that time I will start sharing this website with everyone:)

Symptoms:
Naseaus -sometimes all day, other times around dinner
Tired- all the time
Growing, achy chest- this is starting to get better
Frequent urination- visits to the bathroom equal several times an hour
Memory loss- can't remember if I put on underwear this morning

How the Little Monster is growing:
Your new resident is nearly an inch long — about the size of a grape — and weighs just a fraction of an ounce. She's starting to look more and more human. Her essential body parts are accounted for, though they'll go through plenty of fine-tuning in the coming months. Other changes abound: Your baby's heart finishes dividing into four chambers, and the valves start to form — as do her tiny teeth. The embryonic "tail" is completely gone. Your baby's organs, muscles, and nerves are kicking into gear. The external sex organs are there but won't be distinguishable as male or female for another few weeks. Her eyes are fully formed, but her eyelids are fused shut and won't open until 27 weeks. She has tiny earlobes, and her mouth, nose, and nostrils are more distinct. The placenta is developed enough now to take over most of the critical job of producing hormones. Now that your baby's basic physiology is in place, she's poised for rapid weight gain.
