Happy B-day Carly!

Evie attended her 1st BFF's, Carly, birthday party this weekend! Carly and Evie have become wonderful friends over the last several months because Carly's momma (Marissa) watches Evie while we are at work. Marissa and Carly have been amazing with our little girl and have established a relationship that will hopefully last a lifetime. I am so glad we were invited and were able to share such a special moment with Carly and her family. Evie spent most of her time in Carly's ball pit, pulling on Carly's dress and talking up a storm while Carly spent her time visiting with different family members, looking ridiculously adorable, posing for amazing photos, eating her first piece of cake and consequently taking a bath & changing outfits and opening a ton of presents.
We spent the rest of the weekend attempting to finish our basement project, which consisted of cleaning, painting, putting up a pantry and making space for a gym. I think we are finally done - we started the week after Christmas so it has been a very long project that we are very happy to complete. We now have to start all of our spring projects but most importantly we want to spend time with Evie. She is growing and learning at such an advance rate that I can't keep up with all of it. One of her new activities is taking my metal measuring cups and banging them against different surfaces or toys to hear what noise they make - Love it!!!
She is also grabbing anything within her reach and attempting to move to the items that are not within her reach. I think she maybe getting the idea of how to crawl but still doesn't have the upper body strength to do it and she loves standing, supported by one of us, and playing but has no desire to move her legs to walk. She is still sleeping through the nights - except for two nights last week when she woke up at 1:30 and 10:30 crying hysterically. We think it is teething but there are still NO teeth! I took her to the Dr last week to make sure there wasn't an infection- and she got a clean bill of health so I think we are just lucked out with a sleeping baby but one that suffers immensely from teething, which breaks my heart!

  1. sorry to hear evie's still suffering through teething! i may have already told you this, but mike read somewhere that babies who have teeth come in later rather than earlier tend to have better dental health and fewer cavities in the long run... so the positive is that miss evie may ultimately have a more beautiful smile even though her teeth are taking their time poking through :)

also, i read that when babies suddenly have a hard time sleeping through the night, it can coincide with big developmental milestones. natalie's never been a good sleeper, but we have found that she sleeps the worst right before she starts to make a major growth (sitting up, crawling, pulling to standing, standing on her own, etc.). it could be that evie is just in the midst of so many big changes that her sleep is affected...? good luck!

  2. Well - Evie should have the most perfect teeth as an adult because she still doesn't have any!! I feel so bad for her but she seems to be handling it better and has gone back to a normal sleeping schedule, which is very good for Momma!! BTW - Natalie is so freakin cute - I was just looking at the pic with her pigtails in the tub - Love it!! I really wish we could all get together and watch the cuteness of Evie and Natalie meeting:)
